DTPA
Definition
The Texas Deceptive Trade Practices–Consumer Protection Act, which protects consumers from false, misleading, or deceptive business practices and can allow recovery of additional damages and attorney's fees.
Hypothetical
A dealer sells a truck as 'never wrecked' when it had major collision damage. The buyer sues under the DTPA, which may let him recover more than his actual loss because the misrepresentation was knowing.
